In addition to solo playing, Constantine Finehouse regularly performs chamber music with Philip Ficsor in a violin and piano duo, American Double and in a cello and piano duo with the young cellist Sebastian Baverstam.
American Double was founded in 2001 with the violinist Philip Ficsor following the collaboration on Ezra Laderman’s Duo at Yale University. Besides working with Laderman, American Double also coached with William Bolcom in preparation for their CD release: “The Bolcom Project” featuring the composer’s complete works for violin and piano. Mr. Bolcom has praised the Double as “first-rate musicians in every way, balancing style and taste impeccably.” Their previous recording, Sonatas features them in works by Brahms, Beethoven and Ravel. The 2007-2008 season will see them performing at Yale University’s prestigious New Music New Haven series, as well as at New York’s Steinway Hall and the renowned Harvard Musical Association in Boston. In October 2006, American Double presented the first complete cycle of Bolcom’s works for violin and piano in Ann Arbor, with the composer personally introducing each work. Their 2004 Hungarian tour was lauded by the Kiskunhalas Mirror as “collaboration of an unbelievably high degree.” more »
